OH MY GOD , last night was, to begin with , horrific ..without warning we were the only people out with anything for the homeless and families in hardship, it was unimaginable how we were going to feed everyone and crowd control over 180 hungry, volatile and desperate people .
There was vile behaviour from the off , violence beyond belief from a man we had never seen before. He struck a vulnerable young man over the head with a concealed weapon, causing a lot of damage and all service was ceased until we attended to his injuries and called an ambulance..not nice at all ..this is not behaviour we have ever seen before ..but we were unaware of the lack of services before we arrived ..
Moving on , Violence removed , young man in ambulance, we proceeded to tackle what seemed an impossible task ..
Thank god for Extra pizzas donations and extra pret A Manger at short notice ..we ploughed through the crowd , resuming our normal peaceful ambience..
Sadly we ended up feeding people from unknown backgrounds , but wasn’t in a position to judge ..but the cost was damaging to the feeds coming up this week 😒
The team were very shaken , but stood their ground and smiled through , calming the crowd and being as attentive as possible..They shone an exemplary star 🌟 Team supreme.
Many many thanks to all that made it possible to feed literally every single person , and some late comers ..we couldn’t of done this without the extra pizzas and pret A Manger.
Clothing and other essentials were very much appreciated and the superb selection of in kind products for households that struggle..
Hoping this situation is regulated by the council by next week 🙏 as this is the first time in 9 and half years , I went home and cried..knackered and although upset , was happy that my team held it together and we were all safe ..
A welfare check was done on the injured party and followed up today ..all is well and after observation and medical attention, he was taken to his HMO this morning.
Sorry this isn’t as positive as usual , but we all have bad days i guess ..
